Great Valley Seed Co. has an immediate opening for a Restoration Biologist based out of our Los Banos, California facility. We are seeking a motivated, self-starter with the right mix of experience, curiosity and drive who will be interested in growing with the position.

The focus of this position will be to oversee research & development, provide direct support to our production team and help coordinate outreach activities. This position will report directly to the general manager working alongside other key departments. Base salary will be heavily dependent on work experience in the field.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee R&D programs for native seed production

  • Coordinate trials, amplification grow outs, track & document results

  • Network with GVS partners and customer base

  • Support new projects, grant opportunities & customer interface

  • Manage inventory systems & data management

  • Support quality control throughout the entire production cycle

  • Weekly field scouting (pests, weeds, bloom windows, harvest timing) and reporting

  • Oversee general housekeeping and sanitation protocol

  • Support seed cleaning department & production team

  • Ensure that safety & food safety are always in compliance

Position Skills Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in biology, ecology, restoration, ag management or related field

  • Problem solving skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong organizational and communication skills required

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work outdoors as well as indoors

  • Proficient in Google cloud platform or compatible systems

  • Requires valid CA license to drive company vehicles

  • Flexibility in work schedule to meet seasonal demands

  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends and/or holidays as required by operational needs

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in agricultural practices, restoration activities, native seed background preferred

  • General background in agriculture a plus

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus
